I have always been a big admirer of women power. Many women figure throughout the world put their names in the golden letters by their deeds. Malini Saba is one of them. As per my opinion, the chairperson and founder of Saban is a truly passionate philanthropist. When this South Asian women’s company invests in gas, oil, real estate, and tech companies in China, Australia, and the USA, she spends her leisure time trying to support low-income and at-risk women throughout the world. in 2001, Saban organized a non-profitable organization named Stree : Global Investments in Women. It offers the women access to healthcare, legal empowerment and public policy forums in Eastern Europe, India, Africa, and Central America.
One of the most inspiring incidents truly touched my heart when in 2004 a tsunami-ravaged parts of both Sri Lanka and India, Malini pledged about $10 million to stand beside the victims and reconstruct the countries. The next year while El Camino Hospital in the Mountain View in California was trying to attempt to build the Heart Research Center which was the world’s first ever for South Asians, Saba was among those first to display support. I found really influencing when she donated $1 million to the noteworthy efforts of them. Those generous acts demonstrate the character of this great successful investor and entrepreneur — hats off from my side to her.
Saba started her investments career in the 1990s. As I know, she invested in around 20 technology based Silicon Valley companies. I always have the interest in venture capital investment’s news. So when she established Saban, I felt really enthusiastic. The company invests largely in real estate, gas and oil, and technology companies throughout the world. Netscreen Technologies, Sycamore Networks Inc and PayPal Inc. are included among those companies. As far as the dedication of Malini is concerned as I noticed is where those investments have Saban in the conference calls at 5 am to Asia and attending 45 minute long meetings related to the investments by her throughout the USA and Europe.
But above all these, the most important activities according to me is during the day she was taking her daughter to the school and picking her up in the evening, and then used to spend as much precious time with her daughter as possible each and every day. It shows me and the entire world that she is equally nurturing the potential of her daughter just like she does the same in her investments in commodities, agriculture, real estate, iron ore mines, emerging markets, and retail. Both the tasks really require her highly prodigious skills as well as call for growing and learning every day.
In all, from my point of view, Malini is a great influence the way she learned from her successes as well as her failures and is always willing to do whatever thing takes to succeed. Malini Saba is always an inspiration to me.
